Recognized as a Best Lawyer (2010 to present), Super Lawyer (15 years), and AV Preeminent (Martindale-Hubbell), Bruce brings a combination of litigation experience, business perspective, and interpersonal insight to every mediation.
Bruce brings particular depth to insurance coverage disputes (including primary, excess, umbrella, reinsurance, and bad faith), drawing on his background as both a litigator and coverage attorney. This experience gives him practical insight into the challenges faced when risk, policy language, and business pressures intersect.
He has mediated over 100 cases, both privately and through federal and state court panels across California, including the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California; First Appellate District Mediation Program; and U.S. Bankruptcy Court panels. Bruce also contributes to resolving public policy and community disputes. As co-founder and managing partner of Craig & Winkelman LLP and adjunct law professor, he offers both strategic guidance and a collaborative approach valued by attorneys, litigants, and institutional clients.
Recognized for skillfully managing both complex factual issues and emotional dynamics, Bruce maintains focus on practical, durable solutions. His teaching, publishing, and service with leading ADR organizations, including as a former member of the California State Bar ADR Committee and currently with The Mediation Society, keep his expertise at the forefront of dispute resolution practice.
Outside mediation, Bruce is an avid photographer (all photos on this site are his own), enjoys hiking, and spending time with family.
